North West England Regional Research Framework

The North West England Regional Research Framework for the Historic Environment sets out the main priorities for historic environment research in the region and how they are to be addressed. This information is key for anyone involved in archaeological research in the North West.

ISGAP – Introduction to Standards and Guidance in Archaeological Practice

A joint initiative by Historic England, the Council for British Archaeology and the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists, ISGAP provides guidance for community groups around the standards for all archaeological work.  

Study Group for Roman Pottery – A Standard for Pottery Studies in Archaeology

The Study Group for Roman Pottery produces standards and guidelines for working with archaeological pottery in all contexts including community archaeology.

Historic England Guidance

Historic England produces standards and guidance for archaeological practice including excavation and conservation.

CIfA – Chartered Institute for Archaeologists

The Chartered Institute for Archaeologists represents archaeologists in the UK and overseas. CIfA publishes standards, guidance, codes of conduct and regulations relating to archaeology.
